Should Health Officials Have to Be Healthy and Trim?

Are there jobs where your weight should matter? Obviously if you can’t squeeze down the aisles, you might not make a great flight attendant, but what if you’re in reasonably good health and capable of doing the job?

President Obama has nominated Regina Benjamin for Surgeon General, but instead of people being totally psyched about her MacArthur genius award, her impressive charitable works, or her down-to-earth working-class background, everybody is trying to guess her BMI. Some people think a country plagued with obesity should not have an obese person representing our nation’s health care.

Still, we don’t remember anyone throwing this argument at all those husky surgeon generals who happened to be male. If C. Everett Koop ~ could be in charge of the nation’s health-care system while doing an amazing impression of a Civil War surgeon, should we really care about Benjamin’s few extra pounds?

Heading into a critical period in the debate over health-care reform, public approval of President Obama’s stewardship on the issue has dropped below the 50 percent threshold for the first time, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Obama’s approval ratings on other front-burner issues, such as the economy and the federal budget deficit, have also slipped over the summer, as rising concern about spending and continuing worries about the economy combine to challenge his administration. Barely more than half approve of the way he is handling unemployment, which now tops 10 percent in 15 states and the District.

The president’s overall approval rating remains higher than his marks on particular domestic issues, with 59 percent giving him positive reviews and 37 percent disapproving. But this is the first time in his presidency that Obama has fallen under 60 percent in Post-ABC polling, and the rating is six percentage points lower than it was a month ago.

Obama has taken on a series of major problems during his young presidency, but he faces a particularly difficult fight over his effort to encourage Congress to pass an overhaul of the nation’s health-care system.

The legislation has run into problems in the House and Senate, as lawmakers struggle to contain spiraling costs and avoid ballooning the deficit.

Since April, approval of Obama’s handling of health care has dropped from 57 percent to 49 percent, with disapproval rising from 29 percent to 44 percent. Obama still maintains a large advantage over congressional Republicans in terms of public trust on the issue, even as the GOP has closed the gap.

The erosion in Obama’s overall rating on health care is particularly notable among political independents: While positive in their assessments of his handling of health-care reform at the 100-day mark of his presidency (53 percent approved and 30 percent disapproved), independents now are divided at 44 percent positive and 49 percent negative.

At the same time, there is no slackening in public desire for Obama to keep pressing for action on the major issues of the economy, health care and the deficit. Majorities think he is either doing the right amount or should put greater emphasis on each of these issues.

On health care, the poll, conducted by telephone Wednesday through Saturday, found that a majority of Americans (54 percent) approve of the outlines of the legislation now heading toward floor action. The measure would institute new individual and employer insurance mandates and create a government-run plan to compete with private insurers. Its costs would be paid in part through new taxes on high-income earners.

There are sharp differences in support for this basic package based on income, as well as a deep divide along party lines. Three-quarters of Democrats back the plan, as do nearly six in 10 independents. More than three-quarters of Republicans are opposed. About two-thirds of those with household incomes below $50,000 favor the plan, and a slim majority (52 percent) of those with higher incomes are against it. The income divide is even starker among independents.

Republicans have hammered the president and congressional Democrats over the cost of an health-care overhaul and its potential impact on the federal deficit, twin issues that have emerged as a possible brake on any new package.

Obama’s approval rating on his handling of the deficit is down to 43 percent, as independents now tilt toward disapproval (42 percent approve; 48 percent disapprove).

Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS:

Dear Mr. Westin:

As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC’s astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party’s views to those of the President’s to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party’s opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary.

2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the Independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the General Operating Fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month — and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the federal government to ‘put away’, you may be interested in the following:

While serving in Navy Intelligence from 1958-1967, I learned that gathering intelligence is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. But you cannot focus on a single piece or a single section of the puzzle, but must focus on many events (pieces) that at first glance have no place in the overall picture.

I outlined in a previous post: America In Peril, the pieces, and seemingly unrelated events of history and Obama’s past associations that have led us to this point.

Other pieces and events are now falling in place.

Without going into details i will outline a few of them. The Nationalization of all aspects of American commerce has now begun, with the first bail out and this so called Stimulus Plan which is being pushed as extremely urgent.

Meanwhile, Mexico is on the verge of collapse due to the power and violence of the drug cartels, and we will soon have even more massive amounts of illegal drugs flooding the US.

Obama’s puppet master, George Soros is working behind the scenes to buy up all the farm land he can get his hands on, worldwide. He is also working to gain control of the Afghanistan Opium trade.

With Soro’s taking out of production massive amounts of farm land to create a food shortage, and the influx of drugs into this country, The provisions of the Biden Crime Bill can be implemented.

The reason for Obama’s near panic about the Stimulus plan is that all of this must happen before the next elections. By then he must have created such a dire crisis, and the lawlessness that will follow with the drugs entering the US and the “created” food shortage, he will no longer be a dictator wannabe, he will be a dictator. “And because of the provisions of the Biden Crime Act” and Executive order 11921, Congress cannot even review his actions for six months.

The ultimate goal of the “so called” stimulus plan is, through debt, to enslave this and future
generations, and further their acceptance of a “One World Communist Government”.

They can only give little Johnny an opportunity to learn. If he doesn’t it’s his fault and his parents fault, so teach him to clean toilets.There will be no change.

Until we tell the immigrants who come to this country that we are predominately a Christian nation, you can worship as you please, just don’t say anything about the symbols, Christian Holidays or anything else about our faith. If you don’t like living in a Christian nation. Get the hell out and back where you came from. There will be no change.

Until We The People kick the Professional Politicians out of office and put some of We The People in office, and then kick them out when they become politicians. There will be no change.

Liberal, Moderate and “go along to get along” politicians are like seagulls at a banquet, they steal all they can and gorge themselves, then crap on the rest.

Slow Patient Conditioning.

While serving in the U.S. Navy in Bremerhaven, Germany, I met and became friends with a man who raised and trained Doberman.

I was amazed that the dogs were confined in an area with sticks driven into the ground at about 6 foot intervals with a string stretched around them about 8 inches from the ground.

I asked my friend how he trained his dogs to stay in that area, He said, “I don’t train them, I start when they are young and condition them, you can train a dog to do tricks, you condition them to obey and do what you want them to do.

For three generations our children have been “conditioned” in the public schools to accept
Socialism. We now see the results of that slow, patient, conditioning. We have Socialist controlled education, media, financial institutions,and now the House, Senate and Executive branches of our Government are all Socialist controlled.

How long will it be before all courts are Socialist controlled. With the bail out spending bill soon to be passed that really should be called the “Oink Oink” Bill our currency will soon be worthless, the economy will go farther south, and the bread lines will be long. The only jobs will be working for Government security to keep in line those who refuse to willingly go into work camps and work on farms or infrastructure projects at little or no pay other than food and shelter.

In Florida , an atheist filed a case against the upcoming Easter and
Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case
against Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument
was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate
presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel, declaring,”Case
dismissed!”

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, “Your honor,
how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have
Christmas,Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and
Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.”

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, “But you do. Your client,
Counsel, is woefully ignorant.”

The lawyer said, “Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or
holiday for atheists.”

The judge said, “The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm
14:1 states, ‘The fool says in his heart, there is no God.’ Thus, it is
the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then
he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day.

Court is adjourned.

Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB agent who defected in 1970, said in an interview 24 years ago that it only takes a few weeks to create a crisis severe enough that people will be willing to give up some of their freedoms to combat the crisis.

It only took the Democrats and their cronies 16 weeks to create the economic melt down crisis, but let’s go back and look at the recent crises we have faced, and think about the freedoms each one has cost us.

Terrorist Attacks; War on Terror; Global Warming Crisis; Energy Crisis; Economic Crisis; We have all willingly given up some of our freedom to combat these crises.

Our National Security and Economic Security is laid out on a table with three legs — and like the old folding card tables, a catch can be released to collapse one or all of the legs by those who are hell bent on becoming the “Elite Ruling Class” of a Socialist One World Government.

The next crisis we will face is a world-wide food shortage. I’m not a fortune teller, but can see this in Obama’s stated “Tax Policies” and “Agriculture Policies”: Look at some of the restrictions in New York and a few other states which already prevents OWNERS of the land from haveing animals or growing food crops. Obama’s team is talking about a carbon emissions tax on every animal that naturally eats and farts.

I guess it will soon mean if you go into the woods and kill wild game, you will be charged the greenhouse gas tax before you can consume the animal.

Wake up and piss people, the world’s on fire, and only “We The People” not “They the Politicians” can put it out.
