My fellow Americans, do you remember back in the 70’s when we had gas lines, when Jimmy Carter wanted us to learn and adopt usage of the Metric system.  Good… I think.  It is days like these that make me get out a pay-stub, grab a recent tax return, drink a couple of good Belgium wheats and rummage through old photos of what I usta have and ask… where did it all go?

Trillions and trillions of tax payer dollars for items such as… six hundred dollar toilet seats ~remember that~ that only a few would ever sit on, to billions for pet projects ~affectionately known as pork~ that have us build bridges to nowhere and dig big holes in the ground ~Super Collider~ to smash stuff together.  Oh, and by the way, we didn’t finish that big hole in the ground, and the funny part, get this… after spending billions they ~US Congress~ didn’t think it was worth it.  Excuse me, can I get a refund on that multi-billion dollar toilet that goes with that 600 dollar seat.

It is only now when we truly need to spend some real money that they ~Congress~ cant make a decision about our money.  What should be proposed by one of those lame ass politicians is 700, one billion dollar legislative bills, that way each could claim that they only just spend a billion here and billion there and act like the fat cats ~played by Barney Franks~ they believe they are.

After news of the bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac I tried to ask the question in a previous post here of what it means to be a fiscal conservative.  I am now convinced that if this country commits our children’s grand kids to this 700 billion dollar buy out of our financial system then we as a country have made that turn towards a fascist socialist republic and whom better to lead us than Barack Obama.

I know what your saying, your saying wait a second, at first it sounds like your advocating the 700 billion dollar buy out and then your warning me about fascism… what gives here?  Yes, this is true. America is at the crossroads and as we look down each side very few of us have seen or experienced the real struggle that depression can bring and a look down the other side has us seeing Medicare, Social Security all needing billions if not trillions to stay afloat sometime in the next 12 years or so.  Baracks ideas of implementing his socialist programs that give us universal health care, free prescription drugs…  Do you not wonder where is it all gong to come from.

It is my contention that we as Americans need a reality check.  This country needs to stop ripping off the middle class and start producing something other than jails and entertainment.  We need something on the order of depression or deep recession to show us what real struggle and sacrifice are like then maybe as Americans we will again begin to appreciate things.  I’m sorry but if this is what it takes, then sadly I am for it.
